    I would like to see 2 – 3 bedroom apartments in the size of 1000 – 1400+ s.f. at a monthly rental range of $1200 – $1400 on the low end up to $1500 – $2200 on the upper end. Anything higher than that, you’re better off purchasing a condo / townhouse. Bristol lacks sufficient rental housing for “Middle Class, Upper Class” individuals. I would like to see more of that and see less Section 8 and Affordable Housing units.

    Well Rob, I’m sure that Renaissance is making it as reasonable as possible; if the experience idea doesn’t suit you, then consider the fact that these will be brand new buildings- never before lived in- with up-to-date amentities.

    The cost is going to be reflective of that and it’s reasonable to expect; many of the apartments I looked at around town before I bought a house was upwards of 900 to 1000 and they weren’t even that great.

    Besides, if you lived in NYC you would be paying more because you are downtown. Location always plays a role; it’s the same as if you were looking at houses. It’s just something to think about in terms of housing.

    II don’t believe in renting a lifestyle or experience.  That statement falls flat with me.   I make those on my own lifestyle and experiences.   If  I’m renting a space which happens to be downtown, I should be charged more?  No.  Will I use the shops downtown, sure!   While having access to the downtown amenities is an attrractive plus, it comes down to numbers.  Make it more affordable for folks and then they have more to support the downtown business’  they live near.

    Hey Rob, I get what you’re saying about the rental cost. I think the thing most Bristolite residents will have to come to understand is you’re not just renting the space. You’re renting the experience, the lifestyle.

    Sure, you can get a house or condo at that type of money elsewhere in the community but I can’t walk out of my house and downtstairs to a coffee shop or crepe place every morning. I can’t walk to the end of the block to get groceries or ditch my car on a Saturday to hit up all the shops and run errands. Hearing the music of the live band on the Piazza filter through your living room.

    That is what I believe we all would be paying for if/when we rent in downtown.

    I would like to see this happend but at a lower rental cost.  If a rent is higher than $1000, one might as well look into a condo or house and pay a mortgage.

    It will be great if it can get off the ground.  Historically the bristol community has never supported anything high end.   We will see.
