Skating Rink in Piazza

A central skating rink that is a plaza in warmer seasons. Ideally it would be surrounded by cafes and restaurants so people have the option of enjoying a hot chocolate before, after or during (i.e. kids) skating sessions.

  1. This would be a great idea to get people downtown during the winter.  I think it would be best if it was a temporary rink so it could be removed during the summer.

  2. I have left numerous in depth posts on the skating site. If you are interested please go to the sight and take a few minutes to read them. I have been a player and a coach and have left multiple ideas on what to do with an indoor rink and an outdoor rink, what ice time costs, the draw that it will bring, etc. Thank you for considering my ideas and I will be happy to attend the next meeting.

  3. An indoor rink may have some advantages over an outdoor one. For more information look at the Skating Rink group on the Bristol Rising site. If you would like a skating rink in general, please continue to vote for this item.

  4. I think Bristol could definitely use an improvement such as this. Great idea!

  5. This…. would be awesome.

  6. I like the idea, I only wonder what such a large space would be used for during the warmer months? Could it be drained and fences removed and also function as an outdoor performance space like in front of Faneuil Hall in Quincy market? Or something else I’m not thinking of?

  7. I love this idea. It brings charm to the downtown and offers families something different beyond the usual sports fare.

  8. good for families, the “skating rink” (frozen volleyball court) at the athletic fields on Middle street get alot of use each winter from what I’ve observed!
