I know a lot of musicians from around Bristol from just Bristol Eastern alone, and I’m pretty sure there are MANY others.
And I think it would be great if we could gather Bristol’s musical talent at a live gathering, perhaps in the piazza. Bristol Eastern did a musical festival showcasing their talent called Java & Jazz, and the two years I attended it, the room was packed with guests. Imagine what kind of crowd we could draw to a show done by ALL of Bristol’s musicians across all kinds of genres!
I think this could also be a starting point for launching a few successful musical careers.
And I know it’s a bit too late for voting, but I’m just putting the idea out there for further discussion. I still recommend liking it if you’d like to see this so we know there’s support for this!
…with a featured group in the piazza, of course!
Great idea Evan. The Parks & Rec dept have concerts at Bracket Park from the end of June through August. Corporate sponsors are used to pay for the bands. Those are on Tuesday nights which draw a couple of hundred of people. I’ve gone to Blondie’s with friends for a bite to eat then we went down to the concert. It was a lot of fun. I usually go to most of them every season. There are still 6 other evenings open and having live entertainment would be a wonderful idea and something to do right in our ouwn town.

When I think of music festival I think of Tanglewood. This would be a couple day- maybe weekend?- event where you can gather bands of all musical genres and maybe even make days music- specific. Draw in the young crowd by having a high school band portion, allowing the kids to get some exposure. Bands that are metal and hard rock could have a slot. And on and on… This could easily be hosted in Brackett Park like the other concerts which is close enough to draw people for food on the Piazza and other stores.
Bristol should host this years Bramble Jam!
