  1. Many of the comments here suggest features which will draw people to the site. A medium sized field house sports venue could serve everything from graduations to the home show along with finally providing things we’ve never had a real basketball/volleyball indoor soccer arena with actual seats!

  2. Why not include the rock-climbing wall or the indoor playground on this property?

  3. How about like SONO Field House

  4. KOVNER; Courant Staff WriterThere’s a Ramada Inn where the Stanley Arena used to be.

Through the war years and the giddy peace of the 1950s, “that arena was our Madison Square Garden,” Don Clerkin, a former athlete, sportswriter and city official, was saying the other day.
“State League basketball, boxing, wrestling — you name it,” Clerkin recalled, with a twinge of longing in his voice.

I remember the Stanley Arena in New Britain with the same nostalgia. Friday night fights–wrestling –the whole town was excited. My husband was a boxer in those days of Willie Pep–a local legend, . Of course modern sports arenas have different and varied offerings. But the point is sports events–gymnatstics–whatever–, these community offerings unite people of all ages. Events including children which help to develop wholesomeness and character. An Arena could create excitement by bringing in traditional events and also introduce novel events. Both keep us updated, expand our interests.

  5. Bristol is known to be a sports town but we don’t have the facilities to be known as “the” sports town in Connecticut. I believe this multi-sport indoor arena would increase the attraction and the profits of athletic programs. As an athlete myself i have experienced playing in an indoor arena(CCSU’s Athletic Dome) and it was an amazing experience and got me thinking about how we could really use one in Bristol. i believe that this arena makes the most sense for Bristol because of the townspeole’s sports-orientated mindset.
