Imagine an old fashioned Rock ‘n Roll Ice Cream Parlor where you can also eat your usual fare of burgers and hotdogs, and dance off your calories to jukebox tunes on a dance floor.

  1. This would be pretty cool! Very different :)

  2. We already have an awesome ice cream parlor downtown. Don’t put him out of business. There are enough options to pick from here.

  3. I have to agree with Byrd & Maureen-support the local businesses we have already. Give them the opportunity to be worked into the plans. They have suck with us under less than perfect surroundings.

  4. dunphy’s downtown expand local buisnesses. Local tax credit for adding more employment.

  5. Dunphy’s could possibly move into the downtown. It’s not in a good location and if the downtown becomes what we want it to become, that location will become an even worse place for their business.

I live south of Farmington Avenue and as a result rarely go to Dunphy’s because it’s not a convenient location for me because I rarely go to the area around Ivy Drive/St. Paul/NEMS. If I lived in the revitalized downtown and Dunphy’s is just a 5-10 minute walk from my place, I could see myself going there a lot.

  6. I also think the owners of the Ice Cream Churn already serve the hub. An ice cream parlor (with a real soda fountain) would be a need for this area. People who stroll usually end up either in an ice cream shop or walking with a cone – I know we do already.
