Dinner & Drinks Movie Theater

This is for the numerous Bristol Rising members who suggested it!

Could have a small dinner & drinks movie theatre that shows a combination of new movies, with some indies and classics that allows you to open up a menu and order food, and have drinks as you watch!

If necessary can combine this with a live music venue type usage and have drop down screens for movies, to get more out of the place.

  1. All I have to say is,   The Movie Tavern!! In Lexington, KY.  It was furnished with big comfy seats, strip lighting along the bar tops, all the ammenities of a regular theater….but food and beer!! I won’t watch a movie anywhere else since I was spoiled with this for 3 years while I lived in KY!

  2. yes not sure why there are not more of thse in the state, but it would bring in others from out of town…always a plus to get them to spen money here in town for once!

  3. I frequent the Gilson in Winsted. It is a great place to see a movie with another couple, or wonderful for a date, because you can have conversation over guacamole and beer, or even dinner, before the movie starts. The food is good, and their new chairs are comfortable. They even have some sofas. Another place with this idea is the movie theater in Bar Harbor, Maine. You can order a pizza and your order number lights up on an old Bingo board when it is ready. Lots of family fun.

  4. We have been to the one in Winsted and have enjoyed it greatly. Very relaxed atmosphere, great movies and a glass of wine. Quite enjoyable.

  5. For those who want to see one in “action”, check out Gilson’s in Winsted. Been around for quite awhile and still a big hit!

  6. A penny corner pub theatre would draw all kinds of people.A good flick and some decent comfort food…..it would hold it’s own.

  7. I love this idea. I’ve been to several places like this and could never understand how this idea hasn’t taken off all over the country. The first picture is similar to the places I’ve been–just a typical movie theater, except that you sit at tables and eat and drink during the show. (Of course, the theater gets dark, like a normal theater, once the movie is on.) I haven’t been able to find anything like this anywhere nearby, so if we go ahead with this idea it could draw patrons from the whole region. Thanks for posting Mark!!!

  8. I’d like to see this expanded to a Multi-Purpose Event Center/Venue. The facility could host a variety of events on a stage such as ones featured in comedy clubs, bands, speakers etc. It could have a retractable movie screen to show movies. The facility could sell food and beverages including alcohol. The facility could be rented out by organizations or people in the community who want to host an event. Bus Boys & Poets in Washington, D.C. is somewhat on the same idea. Dinner, drinks, shows of all types as well as a gathering place for people to socialize.
