Coworking defined:
“A style of work which involves a shared working environment, sometimes an office, yet independent activity. Unlike in a typical office environment, those coworking are usually not employed by the same organization.
Typically it is attractive to work-at-home professionals, independent contractors, or people who travel frequently who end up working in relative isolation.
Coworking is the social gathering of a group of people, who are still working independently, but who share values, and who are interested in the synergy that can happen from working with talented people in the same space.”
The closest example of a coworking space to Bristol is The Bourse (featured photo) in New Haven.

I like this idea a lot actually. Very attractive to be able to have an “office” for the people who are lucky enough to work this way, and live in downtown and be able to walk to it.
I think places like these have potential to be great work environments and also it is a good way to network with one another.
Ditto!!
There are alot of work at home business owners in Bristol. This would be a great place to schedule meetings and offer a change of atmosphere work enviroment.
I just saw a place like this in NYC that looked really cool and was totally teeming with activity. What a super concept! It would take some work for the idea to be embraced.
It could be placed at Boulevard.
I was just talking to my friend about this! She has to work from “home”, which is a nightmare. This is definitely a good idea, but I can’t think of how it would produce a sustainable revenue stream. If people were charged to use the space, would they just seek free alternatives?
Can be part of small business incubator as part of the Arts Center or at another location. We need to embrace new ways people work and not be limited by the old.
For those of us who do consulting work, it would be nice to be able to host a meeting with a client in an office, and not Starbucks. It would obviously be a fee-for service kind of arrangement, something like a co-op where you join and pay for a minimal amount of access (including having a mailing address).
Due to the interest in this idea Bristol Space will be opening in downtown Bristol. For more information, visit our site at http://www.bristolspace.com. Fill out our survey and receive 2 day passes and a chance to win free memberships.
