Artist Lofts

Artists are an inspiration not just to the space and culture of a location but to the economy. It is important to plan for the inclusion of creative living spaces in a modern tight-knit city.

  1. Yes artists will live anywhere and will turn any neighborhood around in a few years…look at all of the Brooklyn neighborhoods they are booming right now!!  You have to give artists an incentive into the community tough

  2. An old factory in downtown LA was converted into artist live/work spaces. It’s very funky and has “Art Walks” about 3 times a year. I feel it would work if there is another event going on to draw the people to the location – like a music show. Then people can wander/admire (and hopefully purchase) before, after, and at intermission.

  3. I really think we need an artist co-op where local artists can exhibit for a small fee per year and work at the co-op to keep costs down. On one night per month there could be an Art Walk starting at the co-op with refreshments and visit local studios . Lots of fun especially in the good weather. Perhaps local restaurants could offer specials that evening also.

  4. This would be a great idea for artists to have studio space at the Memorial Blvd. site if it was turned into a Visual and Performing Arts Centre.
