Cash Mob organizer Andy Adams tells her tale of the day at the first Bristol Rising Cash Mob on Saturday, April 28, 2012…

Bristol’s 1st Cash Mob was a huge success!

The all time one day patronage record at Mike’s Tortoise & Hare was surpassed before 3pm! People began mobbing the restaurant when it opened at 8am! The mayor stopped by to purchase a gift certificate to use later as others couldn’t pass up Mike’s famous home fried potatoes, steak & eggs, breakfast sandwiches, specialty breakfast entrees etc. Mike & crew were busy behind the counter whipping up the orders as patrons sipped on their piping hot coffee chatting, eagerly awaiting their breakfast. And they didn’t have to wait long! Mike and crew had it down to a science. Calls came in for orders to go, gift certificates were purchased to be used in the future and people strolled in looking for an empty seat to fill their growling tummies.

By 11:30am, patrons began arriving to make sure they had a spot in line. Shortly before noon, they filed in to find a table and look over the menu trying to decide what they wanted for lunch. Eggplant wrap with marinara & provolone, Grilled Cajun Shrimp wrap, Portobello burger, House Salad, Fried Catfish with collard greens, fried okra and sweet potato fries! Some patrons chose to enjoy a breakfast sandwich at noon since breakfast is served all day. And don’t forget dessert! Red Velvet cake, Banana Pudding, Warm Apple Crostada with vanilla ice cream, creamy peanut butter pie and don’t forget Mike’s signature dessert! His Carrot cake! If you couldn’t decide, you could order the dessert sampler! Delish!

The final tally came in with 140 cash mobbers showing up and supporting this event! Bristol residents came together with their family and friends and showed their Bristol community spirit! Before the day was over, people were asking when and where the next one will be. Stay tuned!
